“Orthodontics is about creating straight, beautiful, and functional smiles, but it is also about the satisfaction that comes from helping other people. It has made me a better person by seeing the interaction of family members from so many varied backgrounds and cultures, and has given me a greater appreciation for all the people I have in my life. I love seeing each and every one of our patients feel good about their smile.” — Dr. Hurd

Dr. Brian Hurd attended the University of Toronto and graduated with honours in 1973 with a Doctorate of Dental Surgery. He interned for one year at the Hospital for Sick Children and then returned to school to study the specialty of orthodontics. Following two years of postgraduate education at the University of Toronto, he was certified as an orthodontic specialist in 1976. Upon graduation he moved to Burlington to set up his practice.

Dr. Hurd is dedicated to continuing his education by attending courses and seminars throughout the year. This participation enables him to stay in touch with the latest educational and professional concepts in the orthodontic profession. He is also committed to the future of orthodontics and was a long-time clinical instructor in the graduate department of the University of Toronto.

Dr. Hurd is originally from Toronto and has lived, worked, and raised his family in the Burlington community since 1976. He and his wife Nancy have six children: Michael, Allison, David, Heather, Mark, and Katie, as well as 10 beautiful grandchildren: Nathan, Grace, Kayla, Taylor, Sam, Spencer, Jack, Alyssa, Ella, and Andrew. When he isn’t spending time with his family, Dr. Hurd enjoys playing golf, tennis, and traveling.
